RIDING ASSIGNMENTS
Members of the Unexcelled Fire Company, when responding to emergencies,
assume pre-designated riding assignments in accordance to their seat on
the apparatus. The riding assignments are identified to each member by a
large tag the explains the tools and the assignement of each position.
ENGINE 34-4-75
OFFICER:
- TOOLS: 24" Halligan and Thermal Imaging Camera
- ASSIGNMENT: Lead the hose team to the seat of the fire and suppress
CHAUFFER:
- ASSIGNMENT: Establish and maintain a water supply
NOZZLE:
- ASSIGNMENT: Advance the hose to the seat of the fire and suppress
BACK-UP:
- ASSIGNMENT: Assist and support the nozzleman to successfully advance the
hoseline and extinguish the fire
DOOR:
- ASSIGNMENT: Assist in hoseline advancement between the door and the nozzle,
freeing any kinks or obstructions.
CONTROL:
- ASSIGNMENT: Secure the hydrant, than assist the hoseline
between the engine abd the door, freeing any kinks or obstructions.
LADDER 34-4-90
OFFICER:
- TOOLS: 24" Halligan
- ASSIGNMENT: Lead the team of interior firefighter to search for life
CHAUFFER:
-
ASSIGNMENT: Ladder operations and support roof team
IRONS:
- TOOLS: "Irons" 30" Halligan and flat head axe
- ASSIGNMENT: Forcible entry and search for life.
CAN-MAN:
- TOOLS: 6' Hook and 2.5 gallon extinguisher
- ASSIGNMENT: Search for life and seat of the fire.
OUTSIDE VENT MAN (OV):
- TOOLS: 30" Halligan and 6' Hook
- ASSIGNMENT: Vent, enter, search
ROOF:
- TOOLS: 30" Halligan, 6' Hook and power saw
- ASSIGNMENT:
Vent, enter, search
